Terms & Conditions.

What we will provide.

We will provide trained, experienced instructo rs/leaders in a ratio appropriate to the group. We will provide any specialist equipment necessary for the activity. Details of all necessary clothing, footwear and equipment will be provided.

What you need.

All members of your group need to bring appropriate clothing as noted on the kit list.

Confirmation of Booking and Payment.

Please confirm your booking by email to andy@ghyllscrambling.co.uk. A non-refundable deposit of 50% is payable on booking with the balance payable, 30 days prior to the event.

This is payable by bank transfer to Cockermouth Adventures account a/c 63940713 and sort code 20-55-41

If you are booking an event with less than 4 weeks notice then full payment is required at booking. No contract is made until we acknowledge receipt of the deposit/payment.

It is also possible to book through Fareharbor on ‘book now’ on our website. This allows you to use a variety of payment methods for which Fareharbor takes a commission.

Cancellation.

If WE cancel your activities through no fault of yours we will make a full refund or organise an alternative date. (e.g. if water levels are deemed too high)

Should you, or any of your group, be forced to cancel your booking, you must do so in writing/email. A cancellation will take effect from the date that written notice/email is received by us.

We reserve the right to make no refund for a cancellation made within 30 days of the activity. We will have contracted instructors and turned down other enquiries. Also a no show would involve loss of all monies paid. 31-60 days 50% and 61 or more days 75% refund

Depending on the circumstances, we can sometimes try, if possible, to postpone to another time or date for you. This cannot be guaranteed but is sometimes possible. This is 'not a right' but something we would try and facilitate out of good will, if we can, within our schedule, if it involves no extra cost to us.

We suggest you ensure you have holiday/cancellation/activity insurance to cover your trip to Cumberland and for any activities you book. If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of any insurance policy you may be able to reclaim these charges from your insurer.

Conduct of clients

Outdoor activities can be hazardous and it is important that all participants abide by any safety requirements that ghyllscrambling.co.uk or its representatives may consider advisable. We reserve the right to change, limit or cancel activities due to weather or to clients' ability, equipment, behaviour or physical condition. In these circumstances we will try to offer an alternative but no refund can be given.

Risk & Insurance

There are risks in participation in outdoor activities. When you walk, scramble, slide, jump and swim in a wet rocky natural environment there will always be slip and trip hazards. We undertake thorough risk assessments, site visits and inspections. Our instructors undertake dynamic risk assessments en-route and aim to minimise risk as much as possible. Instructors advise, guide and safeguard clients as much as possible, however, it is not possible to negate all risk. The principles of 'volenti non fit injuria' applies, that is you voluntarily accept some risk and we ask you to sign to accept this before participation.

We recommend you take out your own personal accident insurance. If you already have insurance, please check it covers you for the activities you will be undertaking with ghyllscrambling.co.uk

Health, Fitness and Medical

You must have a level of fitness appropriate to the course or activity which you are booking. You must inform us at the time of booking, or as soon as the case arises of any medical or non-medical conditions that might affect you or any other participant's safety and enjoyment. All medical details will be treated in confidence.

Weather

All activities take place in the mountain environment where the weather can present challenges, even during the summer. The weather & particularly sudden rainfall can limit what we are able to do, and client safety is our first consideration. There may be occasions where we make dynamic risk assessments and make choices en-route where a refund cannot be given.
