1. How do I know you're safe?

Staff hold the recognised NGB qualifications for the activities we provide. Any instructors we may use are known to us to be experienced, insured and qualified for the activity in question. We hold public liability insurance (£5million) and aim to keep the excellent safety record we have.

Whilst all outdoor activities hold a degree of risk this risk is carefully managed by us and participants are expected to follow the instructions of the staff in order to remain safe.

Andy Brown is a serving Teacher and a fully qualified Mountaineering Instructor and is also a provider for the MLTE directing ML, SPA, WGL & CWA Courses.  Membership of the two professional associations below - the Association of Mountaineering Instructors & the Association of Teachers & Lecturers shows a commitment to on-going professional development and quality service to clients.

2. Where do we change ?

Most people change in or by their vehicles, or behind e.g. a bush or a stone wall. Bring a large towel to change like you do at the beach. For those who feel un-comfortable changing in the great outdoors after the activity we have a simple group shelter available.

3. Do we need our own insurance ?

Our public liability insurance covers you for negligence on our behalf only. We strongly recommend you have accident, cancellation and medical cover. Click here for some suggestions.

4. Can you look after my valuables ?

We cannot be held liable for any items of value you may bring with you. You may ask us to look after them or place them in a dry bag however we cannot be held liable for their safe keeping. Items like this are best left behind or left in your vehicles. We can secure your car keys/remote in our vehicle.

5. Can I bring a camera ?

You are more then welcome to bring a camera along. You must remember that ghyll scrambling involves the use of your hands most of the time and photography can be tricky. Cameras can easily be dropped in the water or bashed against rocks.

We have a shockproof and waterproof  camera and would be happy to take photos on your behalf and send you an email of the images.

6.Can we leave you with un-accompanied children under 18 years ?

If you require ghyll scrambling for un-accompanied children we have the required AALS Licence R1076 under Andy Brown - Adventures . This gives you peace of mind that your children are in safe hands.

7. Do you cater for large groups or stag/hen parties ?

Yes. Ghyll scrambling is perfect for groups and we have worked with many stag and hen parties.  We hope such groups will park carefully, not leave litter and be aware of other groups operating nearby which may include children. Larger groups require additional staffing , however, there are discounts for large groups so please contact us to discuss your requirements.
